Known as the Fishing Capitol of the Midwest with it's large population of salmon & trout. In fact, the world's record brown trout was caught this year on the Manistee river!
Our area has over 100 inland lakes and rivers including such lakes as Portage Lake, Bear Lake, Hamlin Lake, and Crystal Lake to name a few. A large part of our county is federal and state land. Perfect for hunting!
But Manistee County and surrounding counties such as Benzie County and Mason County are not all about fishing, hunting and water activities.
This area is filled with unique shops, art galleries, museums, fantastic restaurants, and so much more. Over five counties within an easy drive.
In the winter Michigan's snow covered hills bring skiers from all over the midwest. Crystal Mountain Golf and Ski Resort and Caberfae Mountain are just two of the many skiing opportunities found in our area. Not to mention all of the cross country skiing activities, snowmobile trails, and numerous ice fishing spots.
